Children born between 1st March 2023 and 29th Feb 2024 are eligible for government funded childcare – we have some info on when, how many hours, blended placements and how it all works across the different councils here: https://stramash.org.uk/1140-funded-spaces/
We can then help you complete all the online forms and get you set up with your sessions and funding with the council during registration season
Registration season 26/27 will take place:
Moray: 12th – 23th Jan 2026
A&B: 19th – 23rd January 2026
Highland: 9th – 13th Feb 2026
This is when the council will want you to submit your choices to them using their own online forms.
Stramash Open Days
Elgin: Wed 14th Jan – open afternoon from 2 PM-4 PM-let us know if you plan on visiting.
Mon 19th – Fri 23rd – Any day/time by appointment – get in touch to book your visit!
Oban: Mon 12th – Fri 23rd Jan – Any day/time by appointment – get in touch to book your visit!
Highland:
Fort William: Saturday 7th of Feb from 10am-12pm – drop in open day.

If you’re considering Stramash for your little ones early years, we currently have a range of options available to you:
- Book an in person visit to your local Stramash – meet the team, see the site and chat more about what we do, available sessions and the registration process – feel free to bring your little one to come look/play too.

Non Funded Spaces
We also offer private spaces and you are welcome to register with us on a private space if your child is not yet eligible for funding or you need additional hours that exceed your allocation.
This normally relates to 2 year olds – We accept children from 2 years of age at our Elgin, Fort Willam and Tornagrain (Inverness East) nurseries. Some 2 year olds will also be eligible for a funded space – you can see if you meet the criteria from your local councils website.
