Part of the community at Spynie and with the magical Quarrel Woods behind, for Stramash Elgin children adventure is never far away! Fortunately for our families neither are we, with such a convenient Moray location; welcoming children from Elgin, Forres, Findhorn, Burghead, Hopeman, Lossiemouth, Buckie and Fochabers.

Passionate and experienced practitioners support and encourage children in their learning and development. Learning outcomes and milestones are met through planning in the moment and extending the child’s learning by following their interests. This child led pedagogy creates curious and robust learners with high self esteem and wellbeing indicators.

Children learn through play and are supported to develop skills to risk assess their environment and play, for their own (and each other’s) safety and comfort – physical and emotional. This allows them to develop emotional literacy, resilience and problem solving skills.

All sounds quite serious? Well “play is the work of childhood” after all, but all your child will be aware of is how much fun they’re having! You might also notice increased confidence, improved mobility, physical capability and communication skills in them.

This is one of the main reasons I love stramash! My daughter’s physical strength and abilities have come on no end since her time at stramash and her confidence is much higher too. Every tree is a challenge to see how high she can get! Both my husband and I are cautious and see possible dangers in most things. My daughter (and now her younger sister too) at the woods has taught me to relax and just let the kids try, they know their limits better than we do and will ask for help when they feel they need it.
