Registration Season 2021/22

It’s that time of year again to make your childcare choices and we can’t wait to welcome new children into the Stramash family.

We are still anticipating that ‘registration season’ will happen between Jan and March (depending on the site/district) but dates will be confirmed by councils soon – we will update this page when they are.

What is registration season?

Children born between 1st March 2018 and 29th Feb 2019 are eligible for government funded childcare – we have some info on when, how many hours, blended placements and how it all works across the different councils here: https://stramash.org.uk/1140-funded-spaces/

Registration season is a time for families to visit various nurseries, confirm a space at the setting/s of their choice and select the sessions they want their child to attend.

Non Funded Spaces

We also offer private spaces and you are welcome to register with us on a private space if your child is not yet eligible for funding or you need additional hours that exceed your allocation.

This normally relates to 2 year olds – We accept children from 2 years of age at our Elgin, Fort Willam and Tornagrain (Inverness East) nurseries. Some 2 year olds will also be eligible for a funded space – you can see if you meet the criteria from your local councils website.

Can we still visit?

Our normal operating model for registration weeks across all our sites would involve a series of open days – come along, hang out, meet the team, chat, play and see how you feel. If you want to sign up then we can provide the paperwork. Obviously due to C19, this year will have to be a little different so that we can keep everyone safe and well.

However we want to make it very clear you are more than welcome to come and visit and we are accepting registrations – including those on a blended placement (unless the guidance on this changes from what it currently is which allows this)

Time Slots

Everyone wanting to visit our sites will need to be in contact with us beforehand and have booked a timed appointment for a visit – we will not be able to facilitate drop ins and if the numbers in your party change (this may be restricted) then we need you to notify us before arriving on site. Unexpected visits and large party sizes will not be able to gain access to the site.

You will be sent individual and up to date guidance for your visit when your time slot is confirmed.

Not all areas of the site may be accessible during the visit but we will do our best to make sure you have a really good sense of our settings, our ethos and nursery community.

Option to use a digital form

We have a digital registration form and many councils are now also utilising a digital funding form so you are able to register in a paperfree way if you choose.

Will slots be limited and what if i don’t get a space?

Slots will be limited per day, but we will have as many as is safe and possible to do so. We understand that due to A&B’s ballot system for allocating spaces, it is even more key that you are able to make your informed choices during this time period to secure a space, so we will do everything we can to facilitate that.

We do accept registrations all year round so it is unlikely you will ‘miss out’ on a space but of course we can’t guarantee that, or that space on your preferred sessions will be available.
